Who We Are
What started has a mere dream, developed into a 600 head integrated cattle operation located in the Upstate of South Carolina. Founded in 2004, Bill Sarratt’s goal was simple, “To breed functional cattle.” Along with the support of Farm Manager, Cody Bright, we have developed into one of the leading purebred Angus operations in South Carolina.
Our Genectic Goals
Over the past few years, we have spent countless hours brain-storming about pedigrees to develop a strong line of donors for the Sarratt Farms lineup. On the farm, Sarratt Farms keeps an average of ten donors that are flushed to the most functional bulls at the time. However, we are not afraid to use an a bull that is not very popular at the time we think will improve our cattle to perform at their best on paper and in the pastures.
Our genetic goal is simple: we strive to stay current and provide customers with access to cattle that can perform in all aspects of production with strong growth, good carcass merit, but primarily maternal and phenotypic traits.
Spring & Fall Sales
Along with a strong donor lineup with clout, Sarratt Farms offers a Spring Bull Sale geared to providing functional bulls to their fellow purebred and commercial breeders, and a Fall Sale that features some of the heart of the Angus females, along with a select few bulls. Added to the 2011 sale sheet is a new venue for Sarratt Farms, Sim-Angus. We saw the need from our commercial friends that crossing the Angus breed with the Simmental breed develops a great cross for the commercial breeders.
Our Primary Focus
While the primary focus at Sarratt Farms is cattle we also put a great deal of effort into our farming operation. Our feeding system for cattle is based around corn silage which is grown here on 180 acres. We also utilize other acreage for soybean production and hay ground, and with the exception of two commodities all of our feed is grown in house. Fertilizer for this operation is also produced from 14 broiler houses which make up the Sarratt Farms Poultry division.
We take a great pride in our product and good name and guarantee 100% satisfaction with every animal we sell. We also believe this business is as much about people as it is about cattle. For this reason every customer is given honest information and treated with respect. Our intent is not to just gain customers, but to continue to develop relationships with each of our producers that will be profitable and marketable all over the cattle industry.
